WATER PLAY THERAPY
by Yael Livneh
Colourfully is glad to welcome Mrs. Yael Livneh, Expressive Art Therapist and author of "Rising on Water", in Singapore in April 2019. Yael has kindly accepted to travel from Israel to facilitate her introductory workshop to Water Play Therapy for the first time in Asia.
Water Play Therapy is a unique therapeutic approach using water as the main expressive medium, building on art therapy and play therapy theories and practices. This method uses symbols, objects, colours, creation, playing and storytelling, bridging the gap between the inner and outer worlds of the child.
This two-day workshop will demonstrate how Water Play Therapy is facilitated in a therapeutic setting and how it heals. It will guide expressive therapists and psychologists/psychotherapists to introduce water and its unique expressive properties into their sessions with both children and adults. This highly experiential training is open to 14 participants only, to allow ample practice time at the water table: register soon!

WATER PLAY THERAPY
Water Play Therapy is a unique therapeutic approach using water as the main expressive medium, building on art therapy and play therapy theories and practices. This method uses symbols, objects, colours, creation, play and storytelling, bridging the gap between the inner and outer worlds of the child.
This approach was developed through clinical work with hundreds of children and youth. Water play therapy has enabled them to express their feelings and project dynamically their personal narratives in an accessible and non-threatening space.
Water Play Therapy has been found extremely effective with children who suffer from trauma, severe emotional regulation difficulties, attachment issues, sensory processing disorders, and social difficulties.
This two-day introductory course will demonstrate how Water Play Therapy is facilitated in a therapeutic setting and how it heals. The workshop is designed to enable participants to introduce this new therapeutic approach in their sessions immediately after training. Clinical supervision is available.
Target audience:
Creative arts therapists, play therapists, clinical psychologists, psychotherapists, and occupational therapists.
Workshop goals:
- Participants will demonstrate knowledge of the five steps of the Water Play Therapy protocol.
- Participants will be able to apply this protocol in a case provided by the facilitator.
- Participants will be able to analyse water- related symbolic narratives in a clinical scenario.
- Participants will be able to combine this method with other therapeutic methods they use daily.
Facilitating approach:
This 2-day workshop melds theory and practice at the water table. It includes presentations, clinical case study videos, analysis and discussion, as well as therapeutic simulations for participants to use resources of Water Play Therapy and practicing the role of therapist.
